Monocoques & Ground Effects
The World Manufacturers and Sports Car Championships in Photographs, 1982-1992 Sports-car racing enjoyed one of its strongest decades during the Group C era of the 1980s and early 1990s. This period brought new techniques in chassis construction, refined aerodynamics and improved engine management systems. It also boasted a strong mix of competitors that included major manufacturers such as Porsche, Mercedes, Jaguar and Peugeot, as well as several long-running private teams. Together they raced such powerful and exotic cars as the Porsche 956 and 962, the Sauber-Mercedes, the Jaguar XJR series, and the Peugeot 905.
